It’s that time of year: the purchase of start the season. There are various types and styles to choose from, but finding suitable boots requires some legwork purchases.
While you are deciding between a stiletto heel, kitten heel or stacked heel, think about where they took and how many hours each day. What might look good on the fashion trends may not be so practical when you are running to and from the 9-to-5 office job.
“His boots are only one season to the last,” said Dr. Marlene Reid, an active member of the American Podiatric Medical Association. “Your feet have to last a lifetime.”
Follow these tips from the APMA when buying your next pair of boots.
* Try suitable boots with the kind of stockings or socks that you plan to carry them.
* Look for the stability offered by the boots, preferably with a bit more heel. Heels under 2 inches in height are best. Skinny Stilettos may seem funny in the rack, but put great pressure on their feet.
* Make sure that the shape of the boot is wide enough for a comfortable fit on your feet. Some boot designs may be too restrictive and can cause blisters and bunions.
* Choose boots with a heel against the company. Just because the boot fabric covers your ankle does not mean it provides adequate support.
* Buy a pair of boots that are comfortable after walking around the store in them. Boots never be “broken in”.
* Select a boot with a rubber sole and traction on the bottom to prevent slipping. Remember, most are not fashionable boots for the snow.
* Consider the material. “During the winter months, the feet tend to sweat more, because the shoes are closed and people wear thick socks or stockings,” said Reid. “Selecting a boot leather, which absorbs moisture, over a synthetic material is a wise choice.”
