The engagement ring is a symbol of a promise. The promise is the intention to marry. Such promise or betrothal rings have probably been around since the 4th century, but their style has changed dramatically, even if the meaning and tradition remains unchanged. It began with the Roman Empire. Those betrothed wore an iron ring in private and adorned a more elaborate gold ring during public appearances.
Various selection styles and techniques are required for looking up the best diamonds around. But it is more important if one learns about the 4C’s of selecting a diamond.
The 4Cs consist of Cut, Clarity, Carat, and Color.
Cut: diamond shapes vary from the diamond itself. Diamonds have been cut or shaped into round, oval, princess, emerald or marquis. Making the cut on of the most important aspects to know on how to but a diamond. The cut on the diamond had a lot of impact on the piece; the shape of the diamond is the one who are responsible for its brilliance because certain cut provides certain facets to different cuts of diamond.
Clarity: diamonds of all kinds has some kind of mark, nick or cloudiness that is caused by flaws, except for the rarest ones. The clarity of the diamonds is measured by an alphabetical and numerical scale where the diamonds that belong on the F category are being classified as flawless. An average jewelry store has diamonds in the range of vs1 to s1 ratings, it means that there are still flaws on the diamond but are too hard to find even with a 10x magnification.
Carat: the weight of the diamond or any other piece of jewelry refers to as the carat. A one carat diamond can be outstanding and beautiful but if the quality and the color of the piece are not proportional with the size it will not be such a brilliant looking ring. A lot of young couples emphasize to have a better diamond in size rather than put it on the color and clarity of the jewelry.
Color: the colors of the diamonds are measure alphabetically. Wherein D-I are the whitest and the D are the very whitest among all. Diamonds that are rated from J-L will still be as colorless but the farther down the scale it will appear more yellowish. On the other hand there are few people who prefer yellow colored diamonds. But in traditional engagement rings, they tend to focus more on the brilliant white appearance of the diamond.
